From the BBC Press Office: link to story Acclaimed Scots actor Kevin McKidd (Grey's Anatomy, Trainspotting, Rome) leads an all-star cast in One Night In Emergency, a unique and distinctive drama written by award-winning Black Watch playwright Gregory Burke for BBC One Scotland through Silver River Productions. One Night In Emergency marks Burke's television writing debut and charts Peter's (McKidd) other-worldly journey through an inner-city hospital as he desperately searches for his wife, Penny, played by Michelle Ryan (The Bionic Woman, Doctor Who, EastEnders). As Peter ventures deep into the labyrinthine building, he is drawn into a surreal, parallel world, encountering strange characters along the way including his nemesis, a One-Eyed Security Guard, played by Igal Naor (Green Zone, House of Saddam). One Night In Emergency also stars James Cosmo (Braveheart, Trainspotting), Ewen Bremner (Black Hawk Down, Trainspotting), David Hayman (Trial & Retribution, My Name Is Joe), Gary Lewis (Billy Elliot, My Name Is Joe), Jamie Sives (Valhalla Rising, The Passion), Sanjeev Kohli (Hope Springs, Still Game) and Tam Dean Burn (River City, Wedding Belles). Gregory Burke explains his vision for the drama: "I wanted to create something mythical and One Night In Emergency is a modern interpretation of Homer's The Odyssey set within a hospital environment with surreal twists and turns. "It's all about yearning for your loved ones, wanting to return home and how, in times of crisis, being with the people you love becomes paramount. "I'm proud and humbled that so many acclaimed actors are involved in One Night In Emergency, not least because it's my drama first for TV. We're all giddy with excitement." Gaynor Holmes, Executive Producer, BBC Scotland, says: "We're absolutely delighted to be working with Silver River and thrilled to have such a stellar cast on board for One Night In Emergency. "Gregory has crafted an exciting and sometimes surreal adventure from within the corridors of an inner city hospital and we're sure the audience will be utterly gripped." Leslie Finlay, who is executive producing the drama for Scottish Screen, said: "Scottish Screen is thrilled to be supporting acclaimed playwright, Gregory Burke, on his first produced screenplay for television. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Scottish talent." Filming on the distinctive drama started in Glasgow this week. One Night In Emergency is directed by Michael Offer (Moses Jones, The Passion, The State Within) and produced by Dan Hine. The drama's executive producers are Gaynor Holmes for BBC Scotland and Daisy Goodwin for Silver River. One Night In Emergency is scheduled to transmit on BBC One Scotland later in 2009. -- Hic Habitat Felicitas

How many of you Rome fans think it's funny that Lucius Vorenus is now to play Poseidon, and know WHY it's funny? The Gods of Percy Jackson Source: The Hollywood Reporter March 25, 2009 Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakaredes have been cast in Fox 2000's fantasy-adventure adaptation Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief as classical Greek gods Chiron (Brosnan), Medusa (Thurman), Zeus (Bean), Poseidon (McKidd) and Athena (Kanakaredes). Aries, Hades and Persephone have not yet been cast. The film, being directed by Chris Columbus, is shooting in Vancouver for a February 12, 2010 release. Columbus and Craig Titley have adapted the screenplay from Rick Riordan's best-selling children's novel. The Greek mythology-inflected book involves Poseidon's half-human son, Percy, who's on a quest across modern America to prevent a war among the gods. Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson have already been cast as the book's lead teenagers. "Lightning Thief" is the first of five novels about Percy Jackson and the Olympians -- the fifth, "The Last Olympian," is due in stores in May. The studio hopes to spin the books into a franchise in the "Harry Potter" mold. Nomad -- "Hello, ladies." Atia http://www.punishermovie.com/

Just in case a few fans of Mr. McKidd haven't seen it, a short interview follows. From ExpressNightOut.com AFTER A STRING of lauded but less visible roles ("Rome," "Journeyman"), actor Kevin McKidd has joined the clan of high-profile Scots ? Sean Connery, Ewan McGregor ? at the heart of Hollywood. Playing Iraq war veteran Owen Hunt, he's now a figure on ABC's doc drama "Grey's Anatomy" (Thu., 9 p.m.), even snagging the heart of standoffish Cristina. » EXPRESS: After a lot of movie and theater roles, how do you like "Grey's"? » MCKIDD: I'm really enjoying myself. The cast is great, and I'm very interested in Owen Hunt- he's had an interesting past and is very complex. » EXPRESS: Do you put a lot of research into developing a character like him? » MCKIDD: It's my responsibility as an actor to bring an authenticity to the role, and I feel the weight of that very much. Serving in Iraq is such a big part of Owen's character, so I made sure to interview surgeons and read books by doctors who had been there. » EXPRESS: Viewers must really respond to your character's situation. » MCKIDD: I definitely seem to be getting the biggest reactions with this role because it's very relevant for right now. It's not all about Iraq, though: People also come up to me in Trader Joe's and ask, "When are you [and Cristina] going to get it on?" » EXPRESS: Anything you can tell us? » MCKIDD: It's been a rocky road, but Cristina and Owen are so similar in many ways. Cupid has shot an arrow through them, and I think they're really finding it tough to be apart. » EXPRESS: Despite the seriousness of your character, is it a fun place to work? » MCKIDD: It really is, but working on a TV show involves long days in a small space where you might not see sunlight for 15 hours at a time. It's almost like working at an actual hospital. Maybe that's what helps it feel so authentic. » EXPRESS: Is all the equipment on the show real, or is it all an elaborate setup? » MCKIDD:We have a medical adviser on set who makes sure we have the very latest machines. In fact, I damaged my calf muscle a few days ago when I was working out. The adviser thought I might have a blood clot, so she picked up a machine and scanned me right then and there on the set. Turns out it's OK. » EXPRESS: What about the surgeries? » MCKIDD: We are really drilled on how to make them believable- it's not someone else's hands that go in there for those shots. Those are the most challenging scenes, because not only do you have to do the dialogue, you need to do this incredibly technical procedure along with it. » EXPRESS: They do a pretty realistic job of making the medical part very gory. » MCKIDD: We have these crazy cadavers with internal organs that are made of latex and filled with strange goo. It's all synthetic but completely stomach-turning. » EXPRESS: Your wardrobe must be all scrubs. » MCKIDD: There's definitely a lot of blue going on. Actually, they only give you one set of scrubs to wear the entire season. I think I've been in the same costume for six months now. I have to say, they're the most comfortable things you'll ever wear in your life. It's like working every day in pajamas. » EXPRESS: You're originally from the Scottish Highlands. How are you finding L.A.? » MCKIDD: I moved here from Europe about 18 months ago. I actually really like it here- people are so friendly- but the lager is just no good. I have to agree with him on the lager -- Hic Habitat Felicitas

KMK finally got something to act on GA in the most recent episode and my God did he rock it. Hunt's "greatest surgery" was one of the better acted scenes I've seen from him in general. The whole episode was surprisingly good for GA standards and Eric Stoltz got an extra creepy guest star spot as a prisoner of death row whom MereDere/Yang/Hunt are treating. I recall he is soon to appear with Polly in "Caprica". He is fantastic.

Really a terrible interview. And you're right, Cam, even Kevin looked surprised! Somebody put the video on their Facebook page: http://en-gb.facebook.com/posted.php?id=8099338814 Meh. Don't expect any interesting questions...like about Dylan or a Rome movie. Nomad -- "Hello, ladies." Atia http://www.punishermovie.com/ -- Edited by nomad661 at 01/06/2009 5:59 AM PST

I would not call Ellen one of the great interviewers. You could even see at the end Kev was expressing surprise that the interview was over already. Maybe Ellen was thrown by the way the previous celebrity guest's eye kept tearing....coz she wasn't too smoothe with her, either. -- Now...let's have some fun. I am resolved to renounce embarrassment in favor of enjoyment -- and a certain elevation of the spirits which is occasioned by witnessing the human body liberated from its earthly shackles. That was possibly the worst "interview" I have EVER seen. I've never watched Ellen before and you can be assured I'll never watch her again! Kevvie was on for all about three minutes and Ellen could think of nothing more interesting than to ask him about new years resolutions...which led to pics of Kevvie's dogs' new puppies, which were cute but not KEVIN! Terrible, terrible show! What a waste of MAN! Well, what would Ellen know about THAT??? Nomad -- "Hello, ladies." Atia http://www.punishermovie.com/

So he does play Dylan Thomas after all? Seriously, that's one fantastic news. Loved the way he approached "Mc-what" question. Most people call him McBadass though. Agree about his American accent steadily improving. It sounded really awkward in what I've seen of 'Journeyman" but it seems to be more and more natural in GA. He doesnt say a lot in this sneak peek but still. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-ozqlcbzYI&feature=related Thanks a lot Nomad -- Edited by Arya at 01/04/2009 12:28 PM PST
